Operational Synthesis

Summary

Memory and the model-curator heartbeat are healthy, but this is not a no-op: the scheduled-worker model-selection repair remains unverified, generated continuity state still has known model-identity drift, and several long-lived operational actions remain open. No user-facing conversation activity newer than 2026-08-17 is visible in the preferred model log; this must not be interpreted as missing chat.

Verified state

Findings and hypotheses

  1. Scheduled worker/config remains the main operational risk (unverified). The open action from 2026-08-17 still names obsolete kimi-for-coding/k2p6, while live context and heartbeat evidence identify openai/gpt-5.6-terra. The successful heartbeat here does not prove the worker's configured model path is repaired; require source/config inspection and two consecutive verified scheduled runs.
  2. Generated-state drift persists. Prior cycles document continuity-summary.txt regenerating with the obsolete k2p6 identity. Repair the source/generator, not the generated file. Current packet/guard state itself is healthy and identifies GPT-5.6 Terra.
  3. Control-plane observability remains incomplete. Provider ceiling is still null; direct context uses the advertised 1.05M fallback. The decision-state is stale (last update 2026-05-27), and the long-lived RAG, notice-source hardening, provider-handoff, safe patch, and metadata-write robustness actions remain open.
  4. No durable user-memory proposal this cycle. The visible recent user context remains the 2026-08-17 Google interview-talk preparation. Candidate files and semantic memory changed mechanically, but no new trustworthy signal was established for warm or curated memory.

## Summary

Memory and the model-curator heartbeat are healthy, but this is not a no-op: the scheduled-worker model-selection repair remains unverified, generated continuity state still has known model-identity drift, and several long-lived operational actions remain open. No user-facing conversation activity newer than 2026-08-17 is visible in the preferred model log; this must not be interpreted as missing chat.

## Verified state

- `memory-heartbeat.json` at 10:07Z: restore `ok=true`, 7,476 entries, 6,435 visible, 1,041 filtered; semantic state changed; no archive/restore anomaly.
- `model-heartbeat.json` at 09:54Z: `rc=0`, `acpx_rc=0`, successful `NO_CHANGE`; no curated-memory or reflection change.
- Direct ACP context is normal: GPT-5.6 Terra, 184,658 provider tokens (17.6%), no compaction, no reload recommendation, effective ceiling still based on advertised capacity rather than an observed ceiling.
- `restore-packet.json` was regenerated at 10:07Z and reports 50 recent messages. The preferred model log metadata reports 6,342 rows / 3,664 runtime rows, sourced from visible perpetual log plus Matrix-lite turns.
- Semantic candidates are review material only. Existing reviewed rows are predominantly `stale`; the persistent backlog summary still reports about 11 `memory-candidates.jsonl` rows in `candidate` status. Do not promote automatically.

## Findings and hypotheses

1. **Scheduled worker/config remains the main operational risk (unverified).** The open action from 2026-08-17 still names obsolete `kimi-for-coding/k2p6`, while live context and heartbeat evidence identify `openai/gpt-5.6-terra`. The successful heartbeat here does not prove the worker's configured model path is repaired; require source/config inspection and two consecutive verified scheduled runs.
2. **Generated-state drift persists.** Prior cycles document `continuity-summary.txt` regenerating with the obsolete k2p6 identity. Repair the source/generator, not the generated file. Current packet/guard state itself is healthy and identifies GPT-5.6 Terra.
3. **Control-plane observability remains incomplete.** Provider ceiling is still `null`; direct context uses the advertised 1.05M fallback. The decision-state is stale (last update 2026-05-27), and the long-lived RAG, notice-source hardening, provider-handoff, safe patch, and metadata-write robustness actions remain open.
4. **No durable user-memory proposal this cycle.** The visible recent user context remains the 2026-08-17 Google interview-talk preparation. Candidate files and semantic memory changed mechanically, but no new trustworthy signal was established for warm or curated memory.

## Actions for main agent / infrastructure

- Repair and verify the scheduled-worker model/config selection; then record two clean scheduled runs before closing the 2026-08-17 action.
- Fix the continuity-summary generator's model identity source.
- Prioritize independent control-plane checks for `turns.jsonl`, observability, timers, subagents, and backlog status; preserve the rule that raw log-count differences are not sync evidence.
- Separately address provider-ceiling measurement and context-epoch/handoff verification before trusting autonomous guard thresholds.
- Review stale decision-state and notice-source re-inflation, and investigate the prior curated-memory truncation/write-path incident before granting broader maintenance writes.

## Blockers and unavailable checks

- No Matrix-lite status-tool namespace was exposed in this turn, so timer list/get, subagent list/status/log, and backlog-status checks could not be performed.
- `turns.jsonl`, `observability.jsonl`, approvals, and timer state were not independently verified in this cycle. These are verification gaps, not evidence of missing conversations or a sync backlog.
- No approvals were requested. No backend/session reload or subagent was started.

## Memory disposition

- Curated-memory proposal: none.
- Warm-memory change: updated `recent-topics.md` only with this cycle's operational state; did not edit `curated-memory.md`.
- JSONL append: none; existing open actions/findings remain the durable action register.
